Council on Aging Health & Wellness Presentation

Before lunch on Friday, February 10th, the Silicon Valley Council on Aging will be doing a short presentation and distributing guidebooks about local health and wellness resources.  They will cover topics such as:

       *  Free and Affordable Resources for Home Help, Fitness Groups, Swimming Pools, Transportation, Caregiving Support, and more;

       * 5 Easy Tips to Prevent Falls;

       * Fun Ways to Stay Active at Home & in the Community;

       * Increase Your Energy, Lift Your Mood, & Improve Your Sleep;

       * Tips and Free Resources to Prevent or Manage Diabetes, Arthritis, & High Blood Pressure.

Menu Changes

Starting on Tuesday, January 17th, our lunches will be catered by the Bateman Senior Meals Kitchen in Santa Clara, instead of by the Willow Glen Community Center.  The new Bateman menu looks great, but it is different from the menu originally printed in our January newsletter and on our reservation forms.  Take a look at our new menu by clicking here, or by clicking the "January 2012 Menu" button at the top of this page.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Just a reminder...next Monday (January 16th) the Camden Community Center and the Kirk Café will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  We will re-open on Tuesday, but because of the holiday closure I need everyone to call in Tuesday reservations before noon on Friday, January 13th.  Thanks!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you at the Kirk Cafe in the new year! Please note that our January menu is now available, and reservations can be made either by calling (408) 371-2888 or by emailing me at ajones.seniornutrition@yahoo.com.  If you have never attended the Kirk Cafe before, or if you haven't come in quite awhile, I encourage you to give us a try!  Consider making a reservation for Bingo Day (Wednesday, Jan 11th), or for this month's birthday luncheon (Thursday, Jan 19th), or just pick a day when we're serving a dish you love.  Happy New Year!

Holiday Hours

Just a reminder...

The Kirk Café will be closed this Friday, December 23rd, as well as the following Monday, December 26th.  We will be open Tuesday, December 27th through Thursday, December 29th, and then we will be closed again on Friday, December 30th and Monday, January 2nd.

Next Tuesday's Dessert Sponsored By Councilman Donald Rocha

On Tuesday, December 20th, District 9 Councilmember Donald Rocha will be sponsoring a special dessert for the Kirk Cafe.  In addition to Tuesday's regular menu items, Mr. Rocha's office will be bringing us Apple Turnovers and Boysenberry Turnovers.  Thank you to Mr. Rocha for adding extra sweetness to our holiday week!
